 Preventing Illness

I have done earlier posts on how being healthy can keep you stress free. Depending on how sick you are you will need medication, and that medication can have side effects. The side effects can cause stress. If you run out of the medication, you have the anxiety of getting more or what happens if you cannot get more.

As I said in my earlier posts there are foods you can eat to keep you healthy. You see I come from a family that has high blood pressure, diabetes and colon cancer. My relatives either take pills or inject insulin. I don’t want to do either of those things. Once you start, there is a possibility you will have to buy the pills and insulin for the rest of your life. I don’t want to worry about spending a certain amount of money every month for the pills and/or insulin, with or without insurance.  I decided a long time ago, I would do everything in my power  not to have high blood pressure, diabetes or cancer. If I was diagnosed with it I could control it with my diet. I have done a great deal of research on the internet. What I discovered is this, the same foods can either help prevent or keep diabetes, high blood pressure as well as cancer at bay: apples, asparagus, avocados, beans, blueberries, broccoli, carrots, cranberries, fish, flaxseed, garlic, kale, melon, nuts, oatmeal, quinoa, raspberries, red grapefruit, red onions, red peppers, soy, spinach, tea, tomatoes, yogurt. *

Get Your Groceries Delivered  - Make Your Life Easier

Do you go to the grocery store? With the COV-19 pandemic has that become a hassle? Now you have to worry about getting sick when you go out. I know, getting sick with the cold or flu was possible before the virus. But this is different. This virus is fatal. Even when the virus is no longer everyday news, this will be a convenient option for you.

When you go out now you have to worry about things you touch, touching your face, wearing a mask, etc. There are other things like social distancing your car in the parking lot, standing six feet apart in the grocery store, talking to other people, and on and on.
There is no reason to go through that hassle anymore.
You can have your groceries delivered with ShiptI know there are others out there  (like Instacart), but this works for me.

The Shipt delivery service is so convenient. You can schedule the time you want the delivery to come, the same day. You can leave notes and add a tip thru the Shipt websiteThis is all prepaid using your credit or debit card. The Shipt shopper keeps in touch with you every step of the way by text message. The groceries come to you. You can spend the time (and gas) you would have used going to the store, on something else. This has been wonderful for me.

It has changed my life. Take the stress of grocery shopping out of your life and become stress free.

 Positive Encouragement

During these trying times sometimes it is difficult to stay positive. I know. I get the blues myself. It is very important to our health and wellbeing to stay as upbeat as possible. The depression we may feel from being in the house all day, being concerned about our jobs, what the future holds, it all takes its toll on us. It is difficult sometimes to come out of it. What we think affects how we feel (like feeling tired). I feel like, if I change my mindset I can change the world.

I want us to be encouraged. As the bible says, this too shall pass. We can do all things through the Lord Jesus Christ who strengthens us. I firmly believe this. HE is our power.

If you are interested, you can read the entire Bible here. It is excellent reading.  The bible is for me the foundation of life. It has all the answers to every problem. I hope you will enjoy it.

When you are scheduling some 'ME' time for yourself on the calendar below (by clicking the plus sign), read these during your private time, and help yourself to become stress free.

Your Computer - Take Away Your Stress

Your computer is very important. It has to be kept working properly. If it is slow to boot-up, freezes, or has a black screen this can cause a great deal of stress and anxiety.

If you work from home like I do, your computer is your income source, it has to be kept in tip-top shape. In this time of the Caronavirus pandemic and sheltering in place, we are communicating with each other through various virtual platforms like Zoom, Skype, Webex, Cisco, etc. We have to have a working computer that can connect us to our jobs, friends, and family.

When I have computer problems I need something that works fast and quick, to get me back to what I was doing.

The product I use is called CC Cleaner. It will clean your computer. As computers are used and get older they collect unused files and settings. When you visit a website, advertisers can install cookies on your computer to track places you visit on the internet. As programs are downloaded and uninstalled some fragmented files are left in the computers registry (brain). All of these things slow down your computer over time. If your computer crashes or freezes every so often, this is why. It is dirty, and needs to be cleaned.

Loving Your Pet

Do you have a pet? Then you know the joy they can bring. But when they get sick….., oh boy! Our pets cannot talk to us. When there is something wrong they show it in their actions. Our furry friends will upchuck if something they have eaten irritates them. Or they are quiet and not as playful as they were the day before. They cannot say, I have a sore throat, a headache, or I cannot urinate. The entire experience can be a real ordeal. It will stress you out to the max. So I will tell you how I became stress free again so you can be too, with your pet.

This is what happened to me. My cat could not urinate. He would try when he went to the litter box but very little would come out, then he licked his private area. I could see his muscles moving. He was straining so hard. All the while this was happening he was hiding underneath the bed and furniture. Then nothing came out. He was not able to urinate or defecate (poop) at all. It was like he would get the sensation to go to the bathroom but nothing would come out. The longer this went on he was becoming blotted and stopped eating and drinking water. He would not get into his carrier. Everytime I tried to touch him to put him in, he would bite at me, or bite me. I tried everything. Putting a towel over him, watching Youtube videos for help. Nothing worked. And my cat is smart. I can’t pull the wool over his eyes. If you have ever gone through this, or a similar experience, you can relate.

 Owning A Pet

“This post contains affiliate links and I will be compensated if you make a purchase after clicking on my links.”

If you own a pet then you already know the how relaxing owning a pet can be. A pet can bring a lot of joy into your life. You may not think you can handle a pet. However a pet, like a cat for example, can be very low maintenance. A cat needs cat food and a litter box. That’s it. They give unconditional love.

It doesn’t matter that you had a bad day at work or had a disagreement with someone. The pet will come up to you and lick your hand, wag its tail. A pet will not talk back, they will be glad to see you. A pet just wants you to rub his back, scratch her behind the ear, or pat its head. And your pet will enjoy the attention. My cat purrs his heart out when I pet him. I can tell he is happy and content because he makes a lot of saliva and has to swallow.

You can become stress free by taking time for yourself

Taking some time out of your day to relax and unwind can help you tremendously.

I know we are living in a stressful time right now with the Coronavirus  pandemic. Sheltering in place, not working and/or  wearing a mask whereever you go maybe taking its toll on you. This is even more reason to take some time for yourself. Doing things for everyone else can wear you down. If you become ill than you are no good to anyone.

You can schedule some 'ME' time for yourself. Just like you plan dinner, or activities for others. You can block out one hour, thirty-minutes or even fifteen minutes for yourself each day. This will be your time to relax, recharge your batteries. Read a book. Watch a favorite television program or have spa time. Do whatever you enjoy that will relax you.

You Can Become Stress Free By Making Your Life Easier

I make my life easier by keeping the stress away from me. Let me explain.

I don't not drive. I know I need things from the store like a cell phone charger, cat food, personal items, home products, etc. Why should I worry about getting transportation to get to the store? Then worry about getting back to my home? Not to mention carrying the bag(s). Why create anxiety? The easiest thing for me to do is get what I need online.

 DebtFree StressFree

The word debt can bring to mind financial problems. Just saying the word can be stressful. I am in debt like most Americans, but I don’t have the stress of the debt. I know it exists with my bills, but I don’t let it stress me out. It doesn’t have to stress you out ither.

The money I receive from my job can only go so far. This is what I do:

You can become stress free by having an online job

You can work from anywhere there is an internet connection. From my experience, an online job has allowed me to become stress free for the following reasons:
  • I don't have to find transportation to go to a physical building, saving money.
  • I don't have to spend money for purchases made at work (snacks, lunch, etc)
  • I set my own work schedule
have found it very liberating and I know you will too. I have put together a listing of online jobs for you.

As the old saying goes, You are What You Eat

Did you know there a certain foods you can eat, which can help prevent diabetes? For example, brown rice, whole wheat, oatmeal, fruits, vegetables, beans, and lentils are very good to eat for Type 1 Diabetics. The pancreas doesn't release insulin, so these foods have a low glycemic index which makes the blood sugar rise more slowly. You would stay away from sodas, carbohydrates like pastas,  cookies, patries, and trans fats. As far as Type 2 Diabetes is concerned, a person is  not dependent on insulin, but should eat a mix of proteins, carbohydrates and healthy fats.

 Stay Healthy

Did You Know that if you keep yourself health, in good physical condition, you can cut down on your medical bills? For you and/or your family?

If you keep your body healthy you may not need to go to the doctor often. Everyone needs a yearly check-up to make sure you are in good physical health. But eating right and exercising may prevent diseases like diabetes and high blood pressure. The cost of medications are expensive. If you don't have to spend the money, why do it?
