My Experience With Amway And Why I Am Still In It
For as long as I can remember I have heard Amway was a scam, a cult, the people in it are brainwashed.
Then one day my mom became a distributor and I tried the products. I was suprised how much I liked them, the SA8 laundry detergent, the flavor-your-water twist tubes, the honey & glycerin soap. I was hooked. So I became a distributor under my mother, and she gave me all her customers.
I was doing well...with all the products Amway had to offer like nine-to-five coffee, the personal shopper and the christmas catalog. At that time, there was a catalog called the Personal Shopper that had clothes in it, electronics, etc. My parents bought two ceiling fans from me, which are still being used to this day. The Christmas catalog had nuts, candy and other fare of the season to buy. But.....there was a problem.
So here goes my experience with Amway....
I have sold Amway since
the mid to late 1990s and I am still selling it. I chose to stay in it, eventhough the problem I had was getting worse. You see I was brought into Amway by pushy distributors above my mother. I
had to go to their meetings at a restaurant, buy the restaurant's food then buy the products from my distributors, needless to say it was extremely expensive, and stressful. Since I liked the
products far more than the situation I was in, I thought I would contact Amway
directly. I explained my unhappiness and asked if there was anything that could
be done. I was told that I could bypass my upline (the distributor above my mother), and connect directly with
the distributor who was above them (in other words, go over the heads of my current
ditributor, to their upline/distributor). That is what I did via a letter to my
distributor. There was pushback. The distributor wanted to make changes, try something different (like the wife taking the orders instead of the husband who was putting down wrong order numbers), but I was not having it. Especially after I talked to the couple above them and discovered how warm and welcoming they were. From that day forward, I have never had a problem with Amway.
So I decided I would not have meetings nor recruit anyone. I believe people should make their own decisions. So there is no one under me. I came to the conclusion that with the reputation Amway has/had with some people, if I had a meeting those in attendance might feel they were being tricked, and that would create hard feelings. So I just let things happen organically. If a person likes the products after trying, then they can buy. No strings attached. Stress Free.
You can order from me (called The Gift Is What You Make It) just like you would from any other online site, like Amazon. I can understand why people think it is a pyramid scheme because of how the recruitment is done by some IBOs. The Amway products have points attached to them, so if a distributor has not received 100 points in one month, than the distributor cannot use the points of their downlines under them. If the downline has achieved 100 or more points in a month, those points go directly to him or her. This is how I understand the business manual to read. The practice some Amway distributors follow has become tradition.
I love Amway and will
continue to sell it. It is possible to make money with Amway, but I have other sources of income so I just buy for myself.
If you are interested in product (cosmetics, shampoo, cookware, etc.), you can get it here (The Gift Is What You Make it) or below.
